Temple of Minerva & Botanical Gardens

Set among the winding paths, The Temple of Minerva appears through the foliage - a hidden gem in the tranquil setting of the Botanical Gardens.

This beautiful venue provides an enchanting setting for a truly unique wedding celebration. Whether you've dreamed of sunshine and Pimm's, or a candlelit ceremony on a frosty day, underfloor heating ensures that the Temple is ideal for celebrations year-round.

Beside the Temple there is a lawn area perfect for drinks receptions, confetti throwing, photographs and lawn games.

The Temple can seat 35 people for an indoor ceremony and up to 70 with additional outside seating.

If you want to extend your celebrations, to include a seated meal and dancing, the Lower Lawn is the perfect spot for a marquee. Our marquee package includes all the essential items to make this you dream wedding reception venue.

The Temple is licensed for up to 35 guests for a seated marriage or civil partnership. Open up the doors and with seating outside your guest numbers can comfortably increase to 70.

Nestled within the expansive Royal Victoria Park, the Botanical Gardens provide the perfect starting point for a leisurely stroll, ensuring your pup gets the exercise they need before or during the celebrations.

To make your dog's experience even more pleasant, you are welcome to bring them to the venue ahead of your wedding day. This will allow them to familiarise themselves with their surroundings and ensure they feel right at home. You can coordinate this with our staff in advance.

For your special day, our dedicated team will be on hand to ensure your dog's comfort and safety. We offer water and food bowls, doggy treats, and a tie-out stake to keep your canine companion secure.

Your four-legged friend is as much a part of your wedding journey as you are, and we're here to make their presence as comfortable and memorable as possible.

Allow our friendly and experienced wedding team to organise a relaxed and magical wedding.

Venue information

Whilst you concentrate on finding outfits and tweaking your guest list, we will complete a full venue schedule to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day.

This will include:

Bespoke table plans and room layouts
Timings to guarantee your guests love every minute of the day
Supplier liaison to answer their queries without you losing sleep

We can also:

Help make suggestions for décor and how to make your wedding unique
Recommend trusted suppliers, from florists to photographers, string quartets to magicians
Help in any other way we can with our in-depth knowledge of Bath and the surrounding area

Included in the venue hire

On your wedding day, a dedicated Function Manager will ensure that your wedding runs smoothly.

Access to your chosen venue.

Wedding ceremony – you may choose a four hour hire period with timing to suit you.
Full day wedding hire – 7am until Midnight.
If you would like to access your venue the day before your event (e.g. to set up a marquee) the ceremony rate will be charged. Overnight security will also be required.
All entertainment and music finish time is midnight, and your guests must vacate the site at this point.

Ceremony furniture

One accessible toilet - suitable for up to 40 guests.

Additional toilets must be hired for larger and longer weddings.

2 allocated parking spaces for the day (Temple of Minerva only)

What happens if it rains on my wedding day?

Rain or shine, we’ve got you covered!

We have marquee options available to hire, to shelter your guests from showers or sunshine.
We also have gazebo options (for the Temple of Minerva & Botanical Gardens only) – gazebo’s can be added right up until 3 days prior to your day, this means you can check the weather forecast on the week of your wedding day before deciding.
Umbrellas might sound obvious, but you could consider personalising them for your guests to take home as a unique gift that can be used again and again.

At the Temple of Minerva we have underfloor heating, therefore perfect all year round!

Don’t forget, rainy skies can provide amazing photo opportunities, don’t be afraid to ask your photographer what experience they have of photographing outdoors and in wet weather – some often prefer rain to sunshine!

Last Minute Events

We often have late availability and are experienced at managing weddings with short lead times. Don’t hesitate to contact us with your requirements and we will do our best to help. A short lead time still equals a perfect wedding!

Location

Our city centre location means we are easily accessible via public transport (both train and park and ride bus) and within a short walking distance of various long and short stay car parks. Bath also boasts an enviable selection of hotels, B&Bs and self-catering accommodation, suited to a variety of tastes and budgets, all just a stone's throw away.

Pre-Wedding Receptions

If you are holding a wedding in one of the Heritage Parks, why not extend the occasion by booking a pre-wedding drinks reception at the Roman Baths or the Victoria Art Gallery the evening before. This gives your guests a chance to get to know one another before the big day and creates the perfect Bath experience.

Favour Gifts

We are happy to make suggestions for favours, such as chocolate Roman coins from the Roman Baths gift shop. On larger orders, we can also offer a discount – please ask for details.

At Heritage Parks you are free to make your own catering arrangements.

We appreciate that we are all different, and that one size doesn't fit all when it comes to the things we love. You are welcome to source your own caterers, but we have worked with some excellent local suppliers, and you can find their details below.

Booking your registrar or celebrant

Bath & North East Somerset Council Register Office

For legal marriages and partnerships it is your responsibility to give notice of marriage to your local authority and to book your ceremony with Bath & North East Somerset Council's Register Office. Please be aware you must also organise for two witnesses to be present at your ceremony.
